"This is a book about hope. In days when hope is in short supply, I am persuaded that belief in the biblical promise of the return of Jesus Christ is the only realistic way to face the future ... I have tried throughout the book, and especially in the last three chapters, to show how the Christian hope is not a matter for tickling our minds but for changing our lives and for influencing society".
