The aim of this book is to reach all classes of people who are interested in the Word of God. There are those whose knowledge of scripture is exceedingly meager. There are others who have a rather detailed knowledge of this or that story, book, or chapter of the Bible. Yet, they do not know the Bible as a whole: they have never made a systematic study of the Holy Book. A study of this nature is very necessary if one is to be able to interpret the Word in the proper manner, for, if it be true that the Bible is its own best interpreter, then surely it must be known in its organic unity first of all. - Preface.
