This BBC produced documentary, narrated by Patrick Stewart, follows the polar bear, the african elephant, and the humpback whale throughout one year's time. While a polar bear mother seeks the safety of solid ground for her two cubs during the warmer months, another polar bear is stranded at sea. A herd of elephants makes their way across the desert to a seasonal watering hole that they share with a group of lions. A humpback whale mother leads her calf on a dangerous 4000 mile journey to the area near Antartica where they feed on krill. Throughout these journeys other animals are also met and become a part of the story of Earth.
