James Bond (Roger Moore) is called in to figure out how a space shuttle can vanish in mid-air. He starts with a visit to the billionaire manufacturer of the ship, Sir Hugo Drax (Michael Lonsdale). Drax is also under investigation by NASA astronaut and CIA agent Dr. Holly Goodhead (Lois Chiles). Naturally, Bond teams up with the lovely but suggestively-named agent and they dodge assassination attempts at Drax laboratories that confirm Dr. Goodhead’s suspicions that Drax is up to no good. They avoid more killers in Venice, and again in Brazil, where they run across Bond’s previous opponent, Jaws (Richard Kiel), the giant with stainless steel teeth who is now in Drax’s employ, but who reveals a human aspect: he has a girlfriend, Dolly (Blanche Ravalec). 007 and Holly discover that Drax, of all people, wants to rule the world. He has a huge space station that is undetectable by radar, and which he will use to destroy all human life. He plans to replace humanity with a super race he has created on the station. Bond and Dr. Goodhead must figure out how to stop Drax before he goes too far.
