Plot

Conventional Western drug development has thus far failed to develop effective therapies to treat the underlying pathology of HIV infection and AIDS. Except for some advances in the treatment and prevention of the secondary opportunistic infections associated with HIV/AIDS, the billions of dollars spent in drug development and testing for the most part has been wasted.... The failure of Western medicine to develop effective therapies has led many people with HIV to seek alternatives. The lack of any effective Western treatments and the search by their patients for alternative treatments has led some Western medical practitioners to observe and investigate some of these treatments. Some of the effective results of these alternative treatments have relief of signs and symptoms of HIV/AIDS; stabilization of immune function; control of cofactors and side effects of Western drugs; and prevention of opportunistic infections, some Western medical practitioners regularly refer HIV/AIDS patients to nutritionists and practioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Chiropractic doctors, homeopathic, massage and mind, body practitioners. In particular, referrals to Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners have been found to be valuable. --- excerpt from book's Preface
