Charity in Truth

Addressing the worldwide economic crisis and the many grave problems facing humanity today, Pope Benedict XVI seeks solutions that are based on both love and truth. Only in truth, he writes in his third encyclical, can love shine forth. He envisions a society that seeks the common good; that respects life, the environment, and the dignity of human work; and that bases financial dealings on truly ethical foundations. Truth-filled love is a gift from God and so, the pope says, above all else we must turn to God in prayer, relying on his providence and mercy.
