Plot

On his twenty-fourth birthday, Daniel Nielstrom is abducted from his comfortable life in South Dakota. Many weeks later, he awakes under the blazing sun in an unfamiliar Middle Eastern desert with no real knowledge of what has happened to him. Confused by his newfound circumstances Daniel relies on his innate abilities to begin the treacherous journey back to his life. Except, his old life is gone forever. Every aspect of his new existence challenges the very core beliefs that Daniel has held dearly. He survives his desert tribulation only to discover that his destiny is to fulfill a pledge made decades ago by his grandfather, Gunnar. It is a strange world indeed that Daniel has entered, for he has been "chosen" to be a Defender of the Earth. Every day, every hour, challenges Daniel's preconceived notions. He must learn an entirely new way of living and coping with the responsibilities and pleasures thrust upon him. With a lot of luck and the help of Omar, a fellow Defender who comes to Daniel's rescue, the young Defender arrives at the temple of the Norse goddess Freyja where the priestesses initiate him into his calling. One priestess in particular, Anna, takes Daniel's training seriously and makes it her personal mission to thoroughly introduce him to the mystic sect's secret and seductive ways. Once equipped with his full range of powers, Daniel's first monumental challenge is to stop a plot to throw the world into chaos so that the ruthless megalomaniac named Tiger can destroy the United States and rule the world. The young Defender of the Earth doubts his ability to resolve the conflict, but with the help of Anna, her fellow priestesses, and the rest of the Defenders, Tiger's evil conspiracy meets its just reward. -- Publisher.
