Plot

Pete and Paula are quick to volunteer when they learn that their neighbors have a kitten available for adoption. They name their new pet Rufus, but quickly learn that caring for a kitten takes a lot of work. They learn to keep the food bowl, water bowl, and sandbox nice and clean--and they watch with delight as Rufus gets acquainted with their other pet, a puppy. As the days pass, Pete and Paula grow accustomed to feeding Rufus, providing him with toys, learning his traits, and finding him a delightful addition to their home.
