Plot

The recent lightning war between Israel and the Arab States, and the continuing tension throughout the Middle East,give an acute topicality to this immensely dramatic story of the outbreak of an earlier war between Israel and her neighbors. On May 15, 1948,the day old state of Israel was invaded by armes from five Arab countries: Leabanon, Syria, Trans-Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt. The total strength of the invading armies is given by MIss Larkin as 23,500. To meet them, Israel had at first no national army, but only some semi-legal organizations, formed in defiance of the British.
