While the Bible is widely considered the most influential book of all time, it has also become one of the least read and most commonly misunderstood. Many believers today have ceased to raise questions and have opted for literalism, while non-believers have taken the opposite stance of resorting to rejectionism. The vast majority of people are left in the middle between the two extremes, perplexed and in need of answers. Ask the Bible, without mythologizing or demythologizing the Bible, singles out the key stories, events, precepts and personalities in each book of what Jews call The book is enhanced by 50 illustrations by the nineteenth century French artist Gustave Dore, perhaps the best ever done on the Bible.
