Poems about the author's life: M. J. Granastein was born in Lodz, Poland. He immigrated to Canada. His brother was deported back to Poland as he stuttered after a bout with typhus. The remaining children went to Tornoto, to join their father, who had already been there a full year--undergoing the test and shock of his new exile.
