This collection of essays was put together in response to the infamous U.N. 'Zionism is Racism' resolution. Its effort is to prove the historical justice of the Zionist cause. It contains essays by Marie Syrkin, Leonard Garment, Chaim Weizmann, Theodor Herzl, Ernst Frankenstein, Mark Twain, Moshe Aumann, Abba Hillel Silver, David Ben- Gurion, Daniel P. Moynihan, Winston Churchill, Andre Gromyko, Abba Eban, Louis D. Brandeis, Golda Meir , Yigael Allon. It also includes maps and the text and a special essay on 'The Jews and Jerusalem'.
This is a small book but anyone who wants to truly understand the historical struggle over the Holy Land would do well to read it.
It is especially effective in dispelling some of the accusations made against Zionism so frequently today.
i.e. It shows that the Holy Land was as the Zionists claim largely barren, unsettled before their arrival.
It shows that Jewish settlement and development were a major factor in spurring Arab population and economic growth.
It shows that Jewish efforts were in the direction of cooperation with the Arabs, who rejected this cooperation with violence.
It shows the historical connection of the Jewish people to the land.
And it too shows how the Jews in living on a small sliver of the land of the Middle East developed it towards modern democracy.
This book shows the justice of Zionism, and its historical validation in the creatiing of a democratic Israel.
