This major reinterpretation of Jewish Kabbalah and mysticism offers new perspectives on its origin, development, and relationship to general mystical writing from antiquity to the modern era. Idel, author of more than 25 works on this subject, analyzes in detail two major streamsecstatic or anthropocentric Kabbalah and theosophical-theurgical or theocentric Kabbalahalso showing how they have intertwined.
