From the Author
When a Jew Seeks Wisdom was the third and final volume in The Jewish Values Series from Behrman House. The first volume, When a Jew Celebrates, was written by the astute and versatile Harry Gersh. I wrote When a Jew Prays and When a Jew Seeks Wisdom. The series was edited by three eminent rabbis and scholars, Eugene B. Borowitz, Chaim Stern, and Hyman Chanover. All three volumes were illustrated by noted Austrian artist Erikha Weis. The conception for The Jewish Values Series came from the collaboration of Eugene B. Borowitz and the brilliant publisher Jacob Behrman. It is an understatement to say that this series revolutionized and revitalized Jewish education for young adolescents and inspired a whole new spate of colorful, well-illustrated, and carefully crafted books aimed primarily at Jewish classrooms in America. It was a terrific team and I was proud to be associated with the project which came toward the very beginning of my writing career. All three of these books remain durable and lively reads.
