In her own words, vivid and lucide, Henrietta Szold has left us an unambiguous mandate for the writing of her biography. She herself maintained that her life was not biographical material despite its remarkable length and background, spanning, as it did, the period from mid-nineteenth to mid-twentieth century, with all its literally world-shaking events and developments, political and social upheavals. Darwin, marx, Abraham Lincoln, US Civil War all happened in her life time. When she died, the bomb was being developed.
