This fascinating histoyr of Rashi was written in early 1900s. Elie Wiesel used it for his own study of Rashi because it still holds up as an achievement in historical studies. This book is a great contribution to the scholarly approach to Rashi. It speaks about his life, the myths around his life and the world in which he lived. It also speaks of his work including midrash, gemara commentary, responsa ( a lot about the Crusades and their effect on Judaism in the middle ages) and poetry.
