Pacific Fast Mail (Jan 1978)
This book is a pictorial essay of steam locomotives in the 2-8-2 Mikado configuration owned by the Chesapeake & Ohio (C&O) railroad. There are 50 black and white photographs of steam locomotives. The author includes discussion of the technical differences within this K-Class, an engineer's personal story, and also includes a brief history of their development by ALCO, where and how the locomotives were used, and their subsequent domination of C&O's main line haulage until the arrival of the K-4s, the 2-8-4 "Kanawhas." A K-Class roster is also included.
