Police offer Jax realizes time is of the essence to save his partner Sonya from the hands of Kano and his Black Dragon gang who try to smuggle stolen robotics technology, he holds nothing back in a duel.
The battle between Jax and Kano continues while the gunfight between Stryker's men and the Black Dragon clan continues. Jax severely beats Kano, dislodging his eyeball with far-reaching consequences.
Faded TV star Johnny Cage gets rejected as an action star despite trying everything. One day, the mysterious Shang Tsung appears and offers him a way out of everything.
The realm of Edenia is invaded by Outworld. Edenia's king reluctantly abandons his wife and daughter and runs from the invasion. The invading Shao Kahn takes the king's wife and adopts his daughter Kitana and clones her.
Kitana and Mileena have grown up thinking that they are sisters, yet have grown apart over the years. Despite Mileena's growing resentment towards Kitana, Shao Kahn uses them to destroy all who threaten his rule.
At night, an electrical storm appears to teleport a man into the yard of a psychiatric institution, leaving him electrified in a dirt crater. Months later, the mysterious patient and his new-found friend Blue attempt to escape.
With the Shirai Ryu clan murdered by the hands of ninja Sub-Zero of the rival Lin Kuei, Hanzo Hasashi has failed to protect his village. His eternal soul is destined to rot in the depths of hell and he is visited by a mysterious sorcerer.
After having failed to protect his village and seeing the end of his clan, Hanzo encounters the shape-shifting sorcerer Quan Chi. He accepts his fate to enter the Mortal Kombat and is brought back as the fire demon "Scorpion".
The ninja assassins Cyrax and Sektor are chosen to be the future of the Lin Kuei by the Grand Master. By cybernetic transformation, they get their memories erased to be turned into ultimate fighting machine.
