In the wake of Noh-Varr's assault on Earth (in his "Marvel Boy" miniseries), the Illuminati pay him a visit, and try to convince him of a better way to live his life. They try to convince him to live as an example to others, in much the same way Mar-Vell did. Eventually, they leave him alone in the Cube, where he has time to ponder his decision.
