Azrael, Vol. 1

Tim Drake, Alfred Pennyworth, Lady Shiva and Vic Sage are in the audience of a karate tournament where a man in the Az-Bat costume is challenging anyone and everyone. Believing this to be Jean-Paul Valley on a rampage, Tim eventually steps into the ring as Robin. He is able to contend with the man, but falls to a cheap shot in the end.

Thankfully, Tim had contacted Batman before he started to fight, and Batman saves him by pulling the man through a skylight and onto the roof. Batman instantly recognizes is not Jean-Paul, but another Azrael. This Azrael fought Jean-Paul a couple of months ago and made a deal with Neron through Abra Kadabra. In exchange for his life, this other Azrael was to take on Batman.

Now that he's finally facing Batman, this Azrael finds himself easily outmatched and almost falls to his death. Batman saves the man, who is actually relieved and calls off the fight. Meanwhile, Jean-Paul himself arrives in Gotham City ...
