Iron Man, Vol. 4

Stark is brought up on trial by the United Nations for his actions, and is found guilty of terrorist activity. The second the verdict is out and Stark is removed as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., the new Director (Maria Hill, Stark's second in command) initiates an immediate lockdown of the U.N., quoting the potential W.M.D. in the Mandarin's hands as the reason. While the committee tries to deal with this, Dugan equips Stark with another old set of armor and gets him out into the field to try and end this threat. Stark does, taking the Mandarin on face to face, but he had to do so at extreme injury to himself, as the victory required the removal of the Extremis-dampening anklet.
