Macrophage

Macrophages are white blood cells that love to eat. They're indiscriminate in what they eat. I used to have swollen ankles a lot when I was a kid. Each time my joints were full of blood and other fluids the macrophages would be released and begin to eat away the fluid as the body was trying to coagulate. The macrophage didn't just eat away the blood, but also the cartilage in my joints. By the time I was 12 I was diagnosed with arthritis in my left ankle. I call this zine Macrophage as a way of speaking towards to the complicated nature of injury and healing as it relates to my body.
