Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX is a BMX video game developed by Runecraft and published by Activision. It was released in 2001 for various systems, including the Game Boy Color, PlayStation, Dreamcast, and Game Boy Advance. It was also released for Windows. The game was followed by Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2. A demo version of the game is available in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2.
The goal of Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX is to successfully perform and combine different tricks on a BMX bike, with successful executions adding to the player's score. The player can play as one of eight different professional BMX riders, including Mat Hoffman, Rick Thorne, or Mike Escamilla. The game also uses a tweaked version of the game engine used in a similar video game, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
Career Mode
In this mode the player has complete different tasks (such as getting a high score) in an attempt to earn magazine covers. Upon earning the covers, new levels and bikes will be unlocked. Two levels in the game are competitions however and require the player to get a medal in order to open the next level.
Single Session
In this mode the player chooses a BMX rider, an available bike, an available level, and ride for two minutes in an attempt to set a high score.
Free Ride
Free Ride is similar to the Single Session mode; the player chooses a BMX rider, an available bike, an available level. But instead of a two minute timer, the player can ride around as long as they want want, finding gaps, secrets areas, or simply practice.
Multi-Player modes
The game also features several multi-player modes including Trick Attack, Horse, and Graffiti.
