Penny Racers

Description

Penny Racers is the Western release of Choro Q 64, a cartoon based multi-player action/racer not unlike many previous attempts such as Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Kart 64 and even to more to a degree, a 3D viewed Micro Machines. Developed by THQ and published by Takara, this is one four-player racing based action title with the production values to go the distance. Penny Racers features no less than nine instantly selectable tracks ranging from off road to on road and sporting weather conditions such as snow, night, sunshine and storms. Tracks include Alpine, Caves, Mountains, Lakeside, Volcano and Country delivering a wide range of interesting environments. The Track editor also allows player to create their own simple tracks with options such as off or on road track, circuit or stage (looped or not looped) and then just decide the direction of each individual track piece on a grided 3D model. Penny Racers includes two modes: Race Series (competition mode) and Time Trial (standard against your own competition racing). The selection of thirteen vehicles is also a plus and these childishly sketchy, "squashed" 3D models include such novelty examples as wagons, rubbish trucks, minis, delivery fans, utes, sports cars, Oriental deliveries etc. Vehicle settings can also be changed by swapping engines, tires, brakes, body, name, color etc. Specials and weapons can also be fitted before the action and play an integral part in crossing the finish line before the competition. Other options include sound balance, speakers (stereo or mono) and all game data can be saved to Memory Pak.
