During a time when black American preachers were banned from SouthAfrica and branded as troublemakers, 24-year-old preacher and level-headed leader Joshua Clay is sent to South Africa as a missionary to 'civilize' the Africans. And as a young black man in the 1930s, Joshua knows this is a remarkable opportunity. However, as he sets off on his journey with the many expectations of those at home weighing heavily on him, Joshua is unaware of the changes that lie ahead. Slowly, Joshua falls in love with the people, the country, and, much to his surprise, a SouthAfrican woman. Through it all, Joshua realizes the changes he is experiencing test his strength and faith, and open his eyes forever to his true identity-and to the real meaning of God's love.
