Happy eighteenth birthday, Nikki! Or is it? Things start to unravel when Nikki Sheridan receives a nerve-jangling phone call--and they get worse by the hour, until it looks as if she may not survive to see another year.... My life is falling apart! Why did Mom have to drop that bombshell? And how can Dad do this to us? Why can't we ever be a normal family? What about Jeff? I thought we had a future together. Now that he's gone to college, I can see that was just a fantasy.... Not to mention Arleta from church. She keeps hounding me to get up in front of everyone and talk about the most embarrassing part of my past. I'd rather die. And my friend Keesha wants me to go out with a guy she met on the Internet. He sounds nice, but why is this alarm going off in the back of my head? He couldn't really be dangerous, could he? Nikki never expected problems like these.
