Plot

The tropical blossoms of the Bahamas, the Caribbean, the West Indies and the tropical part of South America have been photographed in their natural color and in their natural settings, and published for the pleasure of both the traveler and the residents of these areas. No attempt was made to photograph "perfect specimens" . . . their natural beauty was captured as it was seen . . . on the bush, plant or tree.

The flowers are arranged alphabetically by their most common names in the first part of the book. The flowering trees follow in alphabetical order in the second half of the book. The common names vary from one part of the Caribbean to the other, so the name found to be most generally in use was selected for purposes of alphabetizing. Reference to specific locations was accurate at time of publication.
