The Handbook Of Funding Opportunities In The Field Of Tesol

Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (1998)

Plot

The handbook is intended to help those engaged in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) identify and effectively pursue sponsored support for research and other professional activities. It consists of four chapters. The first is an introduction to the world of sponsored support. Major sponsors are profiled and strategies for identifying and pursuing funded opportunities are highlighted. The second chapter includes a directory of over 200 specific awards that support research, education, and individual professional and program development. Each entry includes a brief description of the awards and important contact information. Chapter three reviews the steps in writing grant proposals and describes each of the proposal's major elements. The fourth chapter is an annotated bibliography of resources that can be used to identify potential sponsors and prepare proposals. Sample grant applications for the National Science Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities, and Fortune 500 Corporate Foundation are appended. (MSE)
