"Metallica: Some Kind of Monster" gives a first hand look at the band at its best and worst. Originally filmed to assist the band in dealing with internal problems and growing tensions amongst the members of the band, the band decided to release it as a full length documentary. The film takes a look at the troublesome recording of the band's Album that ultimately became "St. Anger" and the many problems they faced to the complete the project. Dealing with the band's front man James Hettfield's battle with alcohol, bassist Jason Newstead's sudden departure, and other outside influences such as the therapist brought in to assist the band in keeping it together. Also appearing is former band member Dave Mustaine of Megadeth confronting Lars Ulrich during a one on one therapy session about his previous departure from Metallica.
