A Theory of Internalized Collective Consciousness
It is recognized that Black women born and raised in the United States live at the intersection of race, gender and class. What is not documented is how this connection influences their development from girl into woman. This book begins to answer the question: how do Black girls born and raised in the United States navigate this intersection, while maturing into Black women? "My whole life I've wondered what makes us (Black women) behave the way we do. I believe we access an Internalized Collective Consciousness that facilitates our development into Black women."
