Plot

No matter which side of the nature/nurture debate you're on, Amy Lincoln's prospects do not look good. Her father is in jail. Her mother abandoned her when she was 10 months old, leaving her in the care of Grandma Lil, who shoplifts dinner on her way home from her job as a leg waxer. But at 14, ambitious Amy gets a scholarship to an exclusive New England boarding school. After an ivy league education, she becomes a political reporter for the prestigious In Depth. While covering a fund-raiser, Amy meets a college student who claims to be the son of one of the presidential candidates. The idea of tracking down a parent intrigues Any and she begins a search of her own past as well as the candidate's. In the process, she discovers the stuff she's made of, and finds the perfect place to hang her hat in the world.
