A Photo Album in Progress
During COVID restrictions in 2020 as June Pride month approached, amateur photographer, Mev Miller, began to think about how she could use her camera to make visible the many Old Lesbians in Rhode Island who, even in the best of times, can be ignored or remain non-visible.
Taking inspiration from the Front Porch Project, Mev traveled to the homes of old Lesbians willing to have their pictures taken on their own front porches or in their yards. Wearing her mask and using a long-range camera, she was able to take these photographs of Old Lesbians – willing to be out and share their lives – while maintaining proper social distancing. Some participants are active members of OLOC (Old Lesbians Organizing for Change), others are friends or supporters.
25 Lesbians with their short statements are included.
