Plot

The Historical-Theological Interpretation of the New Testament series is a project of exegetes from the evangelical field. One wants to explain with scientific thoroughness, the statements of the New Testament texts in terms of their historical situation, its literary character and with deliberate consideration of their theological concerns and understandable. Apart from the traditional exegetical methods, newer research results are taken into account. The special feature of this commentary series is that the most accurate historical explanation beyond Building bridges in the church today. The design retains the practice of preaching and pastoral care in mind. The commentary series follows a consistent four-part structure: In part I, a precise and literal translation of the New Testament texts. In Section II, comments are about the context for the construction, literary form or genre as well as the theological background of each section. Section III provides an in-depth verse-by-verse exegesis. Section IV is to be understood as a summary, in pursuing the historical meaning of the verses and a bridge to the present with a practical application provided.
