Driven by a social and economic order with its foundations cemented in aggressive uses of power, our machines are loose in the world, crushing, boring, carving, grinding. Simply by participating in this order, we each feed the machine, ourselves bleeding dry to fuel the destruction of the earth and all its inhabitants. Where can we find the vision and strength to staunch our bleeding, stop the machines, and begin the slow rebuilding? Where can we find the patience, persistence, and power required?Healing the Wounds calls upon us to rediscover and act out of the wholeness at the core of our existence. Drawing upon the combined vision and energy of feminist and ecological perspectives, Healing the Wounds challenges us to bring together body, mind, and spirit; the personal, political, and the spiritual; theory, practice, and reflection.The voices of the more than twenty-five contributors of essays, stories, poetry, and invocation to Healing the Wounds are rich and varied, but united in the passion and energy necessary to struggle for change and to build the community to sustain us. These voices are gathered around four the meaning of ecofeminism, ecofeminist politics, ecofeminist spirituality, and ecofeminist community.
