Today millions of young people are struggling with a problem that has been ignored and overlooked: violence in their dating relationships. Dating Violence brings together professionals, activists, researchers and young people themselves to provide a comprehensive, cross-cultural view of the problem. In first-person accounts of experiencing or witnessing abuse, teens and parents reveal the lethality of the problem and the serious attention it demands. These stories are given context within our society by researchers who explore the effects of sexism, racism, class bias and the general invisibility and powerlessness of adolescents. Finally, activists and professionals describe a variety of successful community or school-based programs developed to educate and assist teenagers - from workshops on "addictive love" to programs on date rape. A list of resources includes curricula, manuals and videos which address violence in dating relationships.
