This is the true story of a Fench Canadian girl who grew up in the pre-feminist era. From the backwoods of New Brunswick, Canada impoverished and uneducated, she was sent to a convent in Montreal. Driven by a need to escape the cruel adult world, she ran away to find a better life, only to find herself back in New Brunswick faced with an arranged marriage to a man almost old enough to be her father. She accepted this fate and proceeded to work herself to the bone, bearing five children in the process. Her goal was clear, her mind was set, and she was going to succeed!
