Shadowpack chases an imp, finally snagging it, but it has managed to open a "threshing box" which begins tearing souls from bodies. Zauriel smashes it, and Detective Chimp notes its similarity to other objects. Meanwhile, Blue Devil has reached the sixth of his labors, the Spider of the Roman Catacombs. Due to a communication problem, he must defeat it with... a blender? But he does, as he recounts to Shadowpact later. Indeed, he has finished all his labors, and as promised the Church grants him an indulgence. But it cannot intervene in the infernal contract. For that, Blue Devil must rely on Ken Green. In Gotham's Breed Building, Jack of Fire has become Doctor Gotham's new associate, and has brought him souls in a threshing box. The Sun King has nearly all it needs. In Hell, Ken reveals a clause that permits Jack of Fire to free his brother. Blue Devil outranks his brother, and orders him to free the family, which he must do. His estates and titles revert to Jack of Fire, and he loses his trident and powers. That's when the Phantom Stranger appears, and explains how the Sun King is very nearly manifest, and how this is Shadowpact's fight. And, he brings in the Shadowpact teams of 1908 and 2108 to help...
