George Lopez is a guy who has made lemonade from lemons at every turn. Since he became the plant manager at an L.A. airplane parts factory, George has handled a complicated and tumultuous job including mergers, vandals and even a Presidential visit -- with his sense of humor intact. Everything becomes a mess when president George Bush comes to speak at the factory: Benny has started dating a younger man without telling George, Carmen disrupts the president's speech, and George steals the speech, which results in the Secret Service paying a trip to his home.
George is arrested for assaulting his father; Manny wants to clear the air so he drops the charges and George invites him over to dinner on the same night Benny is bringing her younger boyfriend, Randy, over to meet George.

George, who's preparing to give a kidney to his father, is in trouble with Angie because he threw away a box of her family mementos, but both their priorities shift when Benny delivers bad news.
After overhearing his parents planning to buy him the presents that he asked Santa Claus for, Max doubts the existence of Santa.
Max mouths off to Benny and she slaps him for it. George and Angie think she's overreacting until they learn Max has forged their signatures to cover up his failing in school.
When Ricky stays with the Lopez family, he and Max keep getting into trouble until George decides to return him to his mother and check out his living environment.

A revealing picture of Angie getting soaked in the dunk tank at the school carnival shows up online for all the kids at school to see, and George plots revenge on the kid who took the picture.
George and Vic enroll Max in a boxing class against Angie's wishes and behind her back; but they have to come clean when Max comes home with a black eye.
George invites Angie's newly divorced dad Vic to join a poker game. But when George wins fifty dollars in a hand and Angie's dad refuses to pay him out of principle, a simple game threatens to tear down the foundation of the entire family.
George is presented with a major award and everybody congratulates him, except Benny. George has accepted that Benny never complimented him on anything in his life, until he hears her complimenting Randy on getting a new job.
George worries Carmen's growing up too fast when she pushes to get her driver's license and to spend prom night in a hotel room with Jason.
Max is excited about the Lopez family's trip to Disneyland, but George refuses to go because it reminds him of his deprived childhood. However, he becomes overwhelmed with guilt that he is not sharing the fun with his son.

The morning after Benny finds out her coworkers had a pool she wouldn't last with Randy, George arrives at work to find somebody had vandalized the factory and Benny is the prime suspect, and Jack expects him to fire her even though she claims she's innocent.
Carmen's friend Noah goes to extremes to help Carmen keep her relationship with Zack a secret from her parents. But when George and Angie discover the truth, they become enraged.
George and Angie confront Carmen regarding her relationship with Zack. When George speaks to Zack, the boy's true intentions toward Carmen become clear--infuriating George.
