"Mind Over Magnetism!" - Dr. Polaris has captured Hal's ring and power battery, and is using them to terrorize the world. Hal was stranded at the North Pole, where he is cold and snow-blind, barely able to continue on. Carol Ferris is kidnapped before she can appear at a hearing to defend the Ferris Air contracts, while Ferris Air itself is bombed, leaving Tom wondering how he will support his family.
"Earth-Ground!" - Adam has been captured by Kaskor, and is left for the amusement and interrogation of Alvar Xar. He tricks Xar into overloading machinery, but his Zeta-charged body gives him no respite as he tries to head back to his wife.
