The Silver Surfer encounters a battle between the Skrulls and the Badoon. Kl'rt appeals to him, asking the Surfer to ensure safe passage for the Skrull ships to leave. He grudgingly does so, only to learn that the Badoon are allied with the Kree, and that he has been tricked into taking sides in the conflict. He rushes to Zenn-La, and protects it from the first wave of Kree assaults led by Ronan. The Surfer wins again, and learns that the Skrulls drew him out to power a machine like the one seen in his first annual, which will allow Kl'rt's shapeshifting ability to be shared with the rest of the Skrull empire. He does so, after being assured that the Skrulls will defend Zenn-La, and that Zenn-La will not be integrated into a new Skrull empire when the conflict is over.
