Dark Conrad, undead pirate, warlock and servant of very old and dark powers, has kidnapped Swamp Thing's daughter Tefé! He must work with John Constantine to rescue her and end the threat posed by Dark Conrad and his ghostly pirates. Tefé tries but is too inexperienced to do much. Swamp Thing and Constantine first must recover the doubloon Augustine Dupin gave them - link to the treasure amassed by Jean LaFitte, Dark Conrad's deadly enemy. When Constantine tosses it to Abby, LaFitte appears and he is decidedly unhappy with Dark Conrad. Constantine manages to catch Tefé while Dark Conrad is distracted by LaFitte's attack, and Swamp Thing finishes the ghostly horror off. Maybe. The threat is ended, for now. Fetching the tattered Jolly Roger flag, Swamp Thing offers it to Constantine "for the family album".
In a short backing tale, Gene LaBostrie tells his son the origins of the Cajuns, how they migrated from Nova Scotia, why they light bonfires on Christmas Eve, and the story of the Cajun Santa Claus, Papa Noel.
