The Big Picture

Swamp Thing discovers a copy of a cartoon Chester left behind: Freddie Freelode. It reminds him of his college days as Alec Holland. Then he discovers Freelode's creator Johnny Dogg has not picked up pen or brush to create in years. Believing the world is better for having creative people in it, he sets out to see if he can revitalize Dogg's creative powers. Swamp Thing visits Dogg, who believes him to be a version of Freelode character Mescalito. Dogg eats one of Swamp Thing's tubers and hallucinates "all of creation". He even has a conversation with his creation Freddie Freelode! Swamp Thing tells him the universe creates artists in order to create those things it cannot create itself. Then he leaves. A year passes and one of Dogg's friends visits, and learns that what Dogg needed was to get outside panels and frames. In the background, Dogg's house has been rebuilt to resemble Swamp Thing's head...
