Aquaman, Vol. 4

King Thesily recalls Aquaman, displeased with his work as ambassador. He is also displeased that the people of Poseidonis always turn to Aquaman, and feels Aquaman must leave so that the city's king can gain the respect he needs to lead his people. Aquaman next finds his old friend Vulko preparing to leave, and decides to accompany him. They find Tritonis, and a highly ritualized war: Iqula seeks the abdication of King Firtf over his alliance with Black Manta. Firtf breaks the rules, having Iqula's lady S'Ona captured in a clear violation! This widens the conflict, and when Aquaman realizes his friend Vulko has disappeared, and sees Iqula injured with a weapon of Poseidonis, he realizes what he must do. At the Palace, Firtf threatens to kill the "old man" if Aquaman does not surrender. Vulko reminds Aquaman how his son died and Aquaman realizes then that surrender will not help him. He attacks just as Vulko elbows Firtf; the rebels of Tritonis emerge triumphant, with help from S'Ona, who is revealed to have the same telepathic power over sea-life that Aquaman has.
