Martian Manhunter, in conversation with the spirit/memory of his brother Ma'alefa'ak continues to remember how the League came together and how the Manhunter became a part of it.Ma'alefa'ak, however, claims that the Manhunter has only ever joined the League to prevent himself being alone. He claims that the Manhunter telepathically contacted Starro, persuading the creature to attack solely to force the League to rejoin.Slowly, Manhunter begins to realise his memories have been tampered with and as he pictures himself being attacked by various members of the League begins to hear voices trying to help him but finally ends up, apparently underwater, facing against Aquaman who claims he has to kill the Manhunter to prevent Black Manta in turn killing Aquaman's son.
