Why we choose this theme?

I would like to explain how the IDWG came up with the theme Deaf Woman Proud. we believe that Irish Deaf Woman, when we are on our own , we think woman first. we behave like every other woman. But when we interact with other Deaf woman, we tend to think Deaf first. we feel deaf is more powerful than Woman. That's why we picked the theme in such order,first Deaf,second Woman.But at the same time, we are proud of being both .
