Babylon 5 is a five-mile long space station located in neutral space. Built by the Earth Alliance in the 2250s, it's goal is to maintain peace among the various alien races by providing a sanctuary where grievances and negotiations can be worked out among duly appointed ambassadors. A council made up of representatives from the five major space-faring civilizations - the Earth Alliance, Minbari Federation, Centauri Republic, Narn Regime, and Vorlon Empire - work with the League of Non-Aligned Worlds to keep interstellar relations under control. Aside from its diplomatic function, Babylon 5 also serves as a military post for Earth and a port of call for travelers, traders, businessmen, criminals, and Rangers.

A war criminal scientist who is the last of the notorious Dilgars is discovered on Babylon 5 bearing an extraordinary medication that all the powers want.
An alien family refuses surgery to save their dying child.
Garibaldi is blamed for an accident aboard B5, leading to his return to the bottle.
While the station's dock workers stage an illegal strike, G'Kar tries to hold a Narn religious ceremony, but Londo holds the plant he needs and won't relinquish it.
Londo obtains a priceless Centauri artifact and a stranger visits each alien ambassador asking only one question.
A disgraced boxer comes to Babylon 5 to compete in the Mutai, an alien fighting match. Meanwhile, an old friend visits Ivanova so that she can mourn the loss of her father.
A man searching for the Holy Grail arrives. Ambassador Kosh may be behind a string of attacks on the station.
Colonel Ari Ben Zayn of Earthforce Internal Affairs investigates Sinclair and his command staff for recent station actions.
A Minbari military leader's dead body disappears on the station.
Delenn's old friend and mentor Draal arrives on the station at the same time that an extinct civilization is found on the planet that Babylon 5 orbits. A revolt against the Earth Alliance breaks out on Mars.
Earthforce Captain Ellis Pierce and an alien race both lay claim to Epsilon III, the planet which Babylon 5 orbits. The revolt on Mars continues, leading to many casualties.
Babylon 5's immediate predecessor, Babylon 4, suddenly reappears after mysteriously vanishing four years earlier.
