In this short subject from animator Bastien Dubois, a traveler from overseas arrives in Madagascar for the first time. While the tourist is struck by the beauty of the nation and its people, he quickly discovers he has a great deal to learn about the Malagasy way of life. One of his biggest surprises is Famadihana, a ritual ceremony also known as "the turning of the bones," in which death is honored through traditional dances. Madagascar, Carnet De Voyage (aka Madagascar: A Journey Diary) received its United States premiere at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
