The Flying Graysons suffer a tragic loss. Their trapeze ropes were damaged by acid, causing them to fall to their deaths during a performance, with their son Dick left alive to watch. Discovering that their deaths were caused by thugs trying to muscle protection money from the circus owners, Dick is ready to go to the police. He is stopped by the Batman, who knows that the police are paid off by Boss Zucco, who runs the town. Not happy simply waiting in the Batman's home, Dick convinces the Batman to take him on as a sidekick. Batman trains Dick thouroughly in the arts of combat, particularly ju jitsu and boxing. Returning to town where he works undercover as a paperboy, Dick dons the mantle of Robin, the Boy Wonder, to take the fight to Zucco. He and Batman break up the protection ring, and organize a final, climactic battle atop a building under construction, knocking several of Zucco's men over the sides and to their deaths in the process. Robin brought a camera, and used it only to photograph one of Zucco's murders, and the Dynamic Duo use the photo to send Zucco away for good. As they didn't photograph the murders they commit in self defense, the pair maintain their freedom to fight crime another day.
