The Enterprise have found a planet in a neighbouring galaxy that is teeming with vegetable life. When they beam down to explore, a member of the away team (whose shirt isn't even red) is exposed to spores that transform him into a sentient plant. Soon the rest of the away team is endangered, including Yeoman Janice Rand.
