In the year 2053, the Vatican is responsible for a tremendous scientific breakthrough: Time-travel is possible! This leaves the Pope to ponder what to do with this ability. After debate with his Cardinals, he decides to send a small force back in time to preserve and enlighten the Roman Empire in an attempt to correct the Church's mistake and create a better future for mankind.
